Week 1 Theme: Prayers for Personal Repentance

Read: 1John 1:5-10

Reflect: God is holy. God is pure. God is light and no sin and darkness can exist in His presence. If we truly believed this, shouldn’t that cause some of us to take our own sin more seriously? Taking sin seriously doesn’t stop at feeling bad about the sin that exists. Instead, taking sin seriously causes us to do everything we can to put an end to sins like pride, greed, anger, lust, selfishness, a complaining spirit and other sins when they show up in us. It starts with confessing our sins to God and to our community. God is holy and He calls us to be holy too. Spend time praying and confessing your sins to God, and consider the kind of help you need to take your sin more seriously.
